What's In A Name?

In 2002, I was writing a response to a political campaign letter I received, which informed me that the local government was going to spend more money on graffiti removal, criminal damage and anti-social behaviour. I opened my dictionary. For the first time, I read the definition of the word “graffiti”, and it changed my life and the way I saw my art.

The result of this letter was a 250 page book created over the course of 20 years developing styles of writing.  Containing Illustrations, essays, studies and observations of various cultural events and forms of art, which had been shaped by the word “graffiti”.

Available now in print and digital.

Community Development Plan
